grégoireb., with decades of training and practice in music and architecture,
now expresses himself as a painter.
Using India ink and colors, his style combines a minimalist,
abstract andgeometric language where the improvisation
of shapes and colors constitutesa harmonious equation.
His works, reflecting the typology of surfaces,
evoke an intense reflection on the dialogue between
interior and exterior, intimacy and extimacy, permanence and impermanence.

open visual system - O.V.S.
The Magic Square represents the decisive shift from a composition conceived
as a whole to one conceived as a set of relationships.
The work consists of nine 20 × 20 cm elements joined and fixed to an 80 × 80 cm square canvas.
Each element can be moved and rotated.
The composition retains an identifiable structure, but its configuration changes.
The combinatorial principle thus becomes a way of questioning the idea of a (im)permanent image.
The Magic Square is the material starting point of the Open Visual System (OVS): what was potentially recomposable in painting becomes a system capable of making visible and producing its own variations.
The Open Visual System begins with a structure of nine geometric modules.
Their permutation and orientation allow for the generation of 9! × 4⁹ = 95,126,814,720 configurations.
This number is not the work's ultimate goal. It makes measurable the gap between
the simplicity of the structure and the multiplicity of its actualizations.
The S.V.O. thus shifts the focus from the single image to the relationship
between rule, possibility, and actualization.
M2 series
The M2 series explores the square as a pictorial field constructed through relationships
of form, line, color, and transparency.
Each composition rests on a rigorous geometric organization, in which the forms seem to detach themselves and levitate on the surface.
The reduction of elements aims for a form of precision.
The colors interact through nuances, transparencies, and tensions, creating a depth
that remains primarily perceptual.
The painted lines introduce a movement and energy that contrast with the rigor of the structure.
The deliberately smooth surface thus becomes the support for a subtle interplay between
stability, depth, and the shifting of the gaze.
This exploration, informed by my training as an architect and musician, seeks to make geometry
a sensory space rather than a mere formal system.
As noted by Quentin Métayer of Perrotin, the series is characterized by
a strong visual identity and a harmony of colors and a true lightness of form.
